AYU Natural Daytime Look
So today I started to film the first of our AYU Make Up tutorials- let me tell you it was a lot harder than all the current make up artists on youtube make it look! I decided to opt for a natural look to kick things off. I should say before I post any photos that yes the hairband I was wearing is 100 years old and my hair after looks like I was dragged through a hedge backwards but nonetheless this isn't about the hair its about the make up!!
My skin was cleansed and moisturised before starting so I began with some MAC Strobe Cream all over my face- I love the natural glow this gives the skin under foundation. I always apply this with a clean AYU Foundation brush- I am a firm believer that applying it with my hands will create heat in my skin and promote the production of oil which won't help in keeping my make up in place all day! Next I used Rimmels 25 hour foundation in 200 Soft Beige- I have only started to use this recently on recommendation from some of my make up students and have to say I really like it. It doesn't feel too heavy for daytime but can be built up for a night out! I applied this with the same AYU Foundation brush I used to apply my strobe cream. I followed this with some MAC Prolongwear concealer in NW15 under my eyes with our AYU Eyeshadow brush and down the centre of my nose and above the cupids bow- it instantly brights up your face. To set I used our AYU Powder brush with MAC Mineralize skinfinish in Light Plus everywhere I had my concealer and I used Medium on the outer parts of my face to create a bit of depth.
For my cheeks I used a mixture of two of the colours in our AYU Blusher Palette shown below. By using a pink and peach shade together I feel it gives a lovely natural blush that doesn't look too much for daytime! I applied these with an AYU Blusher brush. I never do too much contouring during the day but to give a little definition to my face I used one of the mushroom shadows(1) from our AYU Eyeshadow palette- I love when you can use one product for a few different things! I applied it just underneath my cheek bone with an AYU Blush brush and blended it upwards and outwards as you can see in the photos! I also used shadow number 2 as a highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones, down the centre of my nose and above cupids bow, again applied with the same AYU Blush brush.
For my eyes I filled in my sparse brows with MAC brow liner in Lingering- I just do small light strokes to keep them looking natural- I would use this with a shadow at night for more definition. On my eyes I used a light brown shadow(3) from the AYU Eyeshadow Palette in the crease blended out with our AYU Blender brush and a creamy white(2) underneath my brows to highlight the area- I used the AYU Pro Blender for this, I lightly added a creamy beige(4) to blur any lines from the brown and white. Its a very subtle look but nice for day to day wear I think. I used a MAC kohl eyeliner in Teddy on my lash line and smudged it out with an AYU Crease brush as I didn't want any hard lines. I followed this with some black mascara.
For my lips again I kept them neutral with a light pink gloss from the AYU Lip Palette applied with an AYU Lip brush.
And here is the finished look- my photography skills aren't the best but I will get better I promise!! I will have the video up over the next week once I had gotten a handle on this editing business!!
Thanks for taking the time to read this,
Suzie x
